Electrocuting a Coat Rack

Watch on YouTube >>

We took apart our old microwave and used it to pump 10,000 volts of electricity into a piece of wood.

It burned some amazing patterns into the wood. Technically this is called a Lichtenberg Figure. In layman terms: “It’s freakin cool”. We had a little experience with it in the past. Caleb used the same microwave to burn the lightning-like pattern into his Pine Wood Derby car.

Special Thanks to Steel & Grain for letting us potentially blow up their wood shop and finishing the coat rack. To this day the coat rack hangs in our mud room. It is a great reminder when we come home every day, to seek out adventure every day!
